Amber rocks in English...

Amber's talent of teaching English has taken a great direction. In our relationship with Brazos de Jesus, the Director Rafael Araneda mentioned that he was looking to start an English program for his students. Of which there are 450 in total split into 2 shifts, morning and afternoon.

Amber stepped up to volunteer just as she did with the Tourist Police classes. She is teaching a program developed by a couple from Canada that are here for this calendar year.

What can I say, my daughter rocks. English classes are an automatic in for building relationships and sharing the gospel message.

The dog is our dog Palomita. She's not taking any of the classes. She's just cute.

Politur is holding strong...

This year to date has been fun with the Tourist Police. It is incredible what consistency and love can generate. These men have become Antonio's and my friends. While there is a clear line of distinction of those that come to the studies on a regular basis and those that don't, they all come at one point in time or another.

On good Friday during Semana Santa (Holy Week), the entire unit was called in for the protection of the tourist. (If you recall during Semana Santa nearly 1,ooo,ooo people hit the streets of Antigua). Siezing the opportunity of a command audience Antonio and I as the representatives of IDC threw them a pizza party.

What we have been discovering is that these simple actions, providing for their physical need - albeit it was pizza, but this is something they don't normally get to have. As well saying thankyou for their work, simple gestures of friendship. Hardly a week goes by that we don't have the Police coming to the cafe for coffee and/or a chat. Often it is to ask for prayer. Another officer this past month made a profession of faith to follow Jesus.

Now that's worth getting up for in the morning...

Marleni Resigned...

Marleni Monzón has been with IDC since before I was here. She was hired by Eddie and Cary. During her time with us she has been an enormous asset. For me, specifically during this past year her help to this ministry has been invaluable.

She is a single mom. And her life situation has changed. She needed to be with her daughter in the afternoons. For the month of February we tried to work out the transition in her life with her schedule at the church, it didn't work. Hence she resigned. She was with us for two years and helped to establish this ministry for what it is today.
